Dr. Julie Johns
Dr. Johns graduated from Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001. She completed her Emergency Medicine Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx, NY in 2005 and was Chief Resident in her final year. She began working for MedExcel in Newburgh, NY in 2005 and was promoted to Associate Medical Director in January, 2016. After becoming dissatisfied with the New York winters and recalling the beauty of Arizona during her medical school years, she relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in 2007 and began working for EmCare staffing three emergency departments for John C Lincoln. In 2008, Dr. Johns assumed the role of Associate Medical Director for The Children’s Emergency Center at Deer Valley Hospital. She became the Medical Director of the department in 2010 where she continues in that role. Additionally, Dr. Johns became the Medical Director of Geriatric Emergency Medicine at John C Lincoln hospital in 2014 and has been developing and operating a specialized unit dedicated to patients age 65 and over since January, 2016. Her passion is the underserved and specialty populations within Emergency Medicine. She is also completing a Master’s level certificate in The Science of Healthcare Delivery through HonorHealth and Arizona State University, which she plans to utilize in her own healthcare advocacy and navigation practice which is currently in development.
In her spare time, Dr. Johns enjoys reading, theater, music and sports (especially those in which her son participates).
